Role Summary
This role is responsible for operating and maintaining up to two precision grinding or machining systems including ancillary automation, auto gages, and wash equipment — while consistently meeting quality and productivity standards. The operator performs setups ranging from basic to advanced, conducts in-process inspections using calibrated gages, and carries out planned preventive and minor corrective maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and clean work area per 6S standards.
Refer unusual or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Know appropriate level of shop math as required.
Read and understand blueprints.
Inspect work produced and show a genuine interest in producing quality work.
Setup inspection gages such as Etalon Micrometer and profilometer.
Have most of the tools of the trade.
Operate and maintain (2) two machines with high standards of quality and quantity; (2) two grinders or (1) one grinder and (1) one broach or assembly machine.
Operate and maintain ancillary equipment such as loader(s) (automation, robots), auto gage(s), and wash(s) (rinse, wash, rust inhibit) with high standards of quality and quantity.
Hand load and hand pack.
Take full swarf carts to processing area and bring empty swarf carts back to machines.
Perform minor machine maintenance. (Planned Operator Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance)
Maintain the Henry System, such as changing paper, checking fluid levels and fluid concentration.
Recognize problems, correct them and make recommendations on how to prevent them to your supervisor or support engineer. (Machine, Material, Tool)
Have a thorough understanding of speeds, feeds and tooling.
Set-up basic jobs within a reasonable length of time without assistance.
Set-up advanced jobs within a reasonable length of time with assistance.
Maintain proper documentation and communications to ensure efficient coordination between shifts and departments (e.g. quality, engineering, maintenance)
Orient when requested by supervisor. Lead when mutually agreed.
Comply with all Quality Management System procedures and work instructions.
Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.
