Job Summary
MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Quality Inspector at our Farmington Hills, Michigan manufacturing facility. In this role, you will inspect products, document results, and help resolve quality issues to ensure established safety, reliability, and quality standards are met.
Location: Farmington Hills, MI
Work Arrangement: On-site
Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00-11:00 PM
Pay: $19 - $21 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly
What You'll Do as a Quality Inspector
Inspect in-process and finished products against work instructions, specifications, and quality standards, including performing first-piece inspections.
Conduct visual, mechanical, and functional tests using appropriate tools and gaging instruments.
Record inspection results and statistical data accurately, enter information into quality management systems, and prepare reports that identify deviations and performance trends.
Analyze inspection data to help identify the root causes of defects and nonconformances, collaborate on corrective actions, and escalate documented quality concerns when needed.
Help develop and update inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists to reflect current requirements and best practices.
Perform internal audits and maintain accurate quality documentation to verify that processes, procedures, regulations, and company standards are followed.
Support continuous improvement efforts that strengthen quality, efficiency, and product reliability.
Follow safety, environmental, and quality policies while maintaining a clean, organized work area using 5S principles.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
Ability to interpret and follow detailed work instructions, specifications, and quality standards.
Attention to detail and the ability to identify defects, deviations, and nonconformances.
Basic knowledge of quality control tools and gaging instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
Basic math skills for working with dimensions, tolerances, and statistical data.
Basic computer skills for entering data and preparing inspection reports.
Basic verbal and written communication skills for documenting results and reporting quality concerns.
Ability to collaborate with inspectors, production employees, and supervisors to identify problems and support effective solutions.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Employees in this role stand for extended periods and perform bending, lifting, and repetitive motions.
The position requires the manual dexterity needed to handle small parts.
This role is performed in a manufacturing environment.
