As a Supply Chain Intern at MacLean-Fogg, you will connect classroom learning with the work of getting materials where they are needed, when they are needed. You will work with supply chain professionals and teams across the manufacturing facility to understand demand, supply, inventory, and the decisions that keep work moving.

You will take ownership of a meaningful project with guidance from an experienced team. Depending on your assignment, you might investigate an inventory discrepancy, analyze supplier delivery trends, improve a planning report, or help make a recurring process more reliable. At the end of the program, you will present your work, findings, and recommendations to facility leadership.

Supply Chain Areas You Could Explore

Assignments vary by location and may include:

• Purchasing and Supplier Management: Help organize purchasing information, compare supplier performance, and support follow-up on materials or services.

• Production and Materials Planning: Learn how teams connect customer demand, available materials, and production schedules.

• Inventory and Materials Management: Help analyze inventory records, investigate discrepancies, and improve visibility of material availability.

• Logistics and Transportation: Support analysis of shipping, receiving, delivery, or freight information to improve reliability and efficiency.

• Supply Chain Data and Process Improvement: Use data to understand recurring issues and help teams improve reports, handoffs, or workflows.

You do not need prior experience in these areas. Not every assignment is available at every location.

What You Will Do

• Learn the products, materials, systems, and processes relevant to your assignment.

• Gather and organize purchasing, inventory, planning, or delivery information and check its accuracy.

• Use spreadsheets or other tools to identify patterns, compare options, and communicate findings.

• Work with purchasing, scheduling, operations, quality, and other teams to understand practical needs.

• Support follow-up on open actions and help keep stakeholders informed of changes or risks.

• Help document processes and evaluate improvements under the guidance of experienced team members.

• Handle supplier, pricing, and business information carefully.

• Follow required training and safety procedures when working in manufacturing, shipping, or receiving areas.

• Share project progress, seek feedback, and present your results and recommendations.

What You Bring

• Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, business analytics, business administration, industrial engineering, or a closely related field.

• Interest in how purchasing, planning, inventory, and logistics support a manufacturing business.

• A thoughtful approach to solving problems and checking your work.

• Willingness to ask questions, learn from feedback, and work with people in different roles.

• Ability to organize information and explain your reasoning clearly.

• Availability for a full-time, on-site summer internship. Limited start-date flexibility may be available for academic calendars.

All college class levels are welcome. Previous internship experience is not required. Coursework, projects, volunteering, student activities, and other jobs can demonstrate your potential.

Helpful, but Not Required

• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• Coursework or projects involving supply chain, operations, statistics, business analytics, or process improvement.

• Experience using Excel or another tool to organize and analyze data.

• Experience coordinating a project, tracking deadlines, or improving a process.

Housing Assistance

At approved locations, eligible interns may receive a one-time $3,000 taxable housing allowance. To qualify, your available summer residence must be more than 50 miles from the worksite, you must need temporary housing for the internship, and you cannot receive equivalent company-provided housing or relocation support. Payment occurs after the internship begins and required documentation is complete.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The physical demands below represent those required to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Sit at a workstation and use a computer for extended periods.

• Move throughout manufacturing areas to observe equipment, processes, and production activities.

• Occasionally lift and carry tools, samples, or parts weighing up to 30 pounds.

• Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when observing equipment or components.

• Review drawings, gauges, measurement equipment, and other visual information.

• Wear required personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear.

• Work in office and manufacturing environments where noise, temperature variation, and airborne particulates may be present.

What to Expect After Applying
