The Sorting Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and monitoring of automated and manual sorting equipment to ensure the finished product meets established quality standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining accuracy, identifying defects, and driving overall efficiency in the manufacturing process. It requires strong attention to detail, consistency, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced production environment.
Job Details
- Position Type: Hourly, Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
- Shifts:
- Shift 2: 3:00pm – 11pm
- Shift 3: 11:00pm – 7:00am
- Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00/hour (depending on skills and experience)
- Shift Differential: +$1.00 for 2nd Shift, +$0.75 for 3rd shift
- Work Location: Onsite - Saegertown, Pennsylvania 16433
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate sorting machines and inspection systems.
- Visually and mechanically inspect parts to identify and remove defective or non-conforming product.
- Record accurate counts and complete required production and quality documentation.
- Handle materials and sorted product in accordance with labeling and packaging procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Monitor machine operation and report malfunctions or abnormalities.
- Follow work instructions and production schedules to ensure timely output.
- Collaborate with quality and production teams to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Skills/Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic math skills and ability to read measurements.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with sorting or inspection equipment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.
- Strong time management and communication skills.
- Comfortable using basic computer systems or input devices for data entry.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Previous machine operation experience strongly preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Demonstrated work history with steady employment and minimal gaps.
- Proven reliability and punctuality to support production schedules.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred; sorting experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Proven record of good attendance, reliability, and accountability.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Required to stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending and stooping required.
- Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
- Must be able to work in noisy environments.
