The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing and managing advanced accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient financial operations. The role will mainly support the centralized and shared service activities of MacLean-Fogg’s corporate division. This position involves complex financial reporting, audits, budgeting, and reconciliations while driving continuous improvement in accounting processes. As a senior-level professional, the Senior Accountant mentors junior staff, contributes to operational decision-making, and collaborates across departments to achieve organizational goals

Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage various centralized processes including payroll, fixed assets, leases, intangibles and intercompany by ensuring accurate and timely process of transactions.
Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and subledgers for the corporate divisions, ensuring data integrity and alignment with accounting policies.
Perform and review reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany transactions, resolving discrepancies promptly.
Manage and lead the accounting of the fixed asset life cycle from request to disposal.
Maintain and supervise programs used in vendor management and accounts payable.
Lead and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion in compliance with GAAP.
Support preparation of accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as needed.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings effectively.
Contribute to the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts, analyzing variances and recommending adjustments to achieve financial objectives.
Perform in-depth financial analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decision-making for the corporate departments.
Ensure adherence to accounting regulations and organizational policies, maintaining strong internal controls.
Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes, recommend improvements, and implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Leverage accounting software and ERP systems to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy and reporting capabilities.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior accounting staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring high team performance.
Collaborate with finance, operations, and leadership teams to address accounting needs, support projects, and align financial strategies with organizational objectives.

Skills/Competencies
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Dayforce, Oracle, JD Edwards or similar).
Expertise in GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Familiarity with cost accounting and financial modeling.
Strong ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all accounting tasks, ensuring reliable financial reporting.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support the development of junior staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with leadership, auditors, and cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proactive problem-solving skills with a focus on implementing effective solutions.

Education: Bachelor's
Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of accounting experience.
