Role Summary
Setup Technician II is responsible for the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of complex machinery and equipment used in production. This role requires a deeper understanding of machine operations, as well as the ability to independently resolve issues and optimize performance. The Technician will assist in training and mentoring junior staff while ensuring that machines are configured correctly for production runs, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities
Install, set up, and calibrate various machines and equipment, ensuring they meet precise operational specifications for production.
Work with engineering and production teams to make necessary adjustments to optimize machine performance for specific production runs.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics of equipment issues, resolve complex malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments to ensure machines operate at peak performance.
Conduct comprehensive tests and inspections of machines, identifying potential issues before they impact production.
Implement corrective actions as needed and perform preventive maintenance to maintain equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Interpret and analyze blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to set up machines, determine production methods, and sequence operations.
Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize machine setups and improve operational efficiency.
Operate and maintain powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) as needed to support machine setup, transport materials, and ensure smooth production processes.
Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Education: High School
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a focus on equipment setup and basic maintenance.
Competencies/Skills
Basic verbal and written communication skills.
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and ability to perform simple troubleshooting and adjustments.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and ensure machines are set up correctly.
Ability to perform hands-on work involving manual dexterity, including the operation of tools and equipment.
Strong focus on safety practices and adherence to all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment, following instructions and collaborating with other technicians.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly.
Must be able to push/pull objects up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to work in noisy environments.
Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
