Role Summary
The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems. This role focuses on automating manufacturing or similar processes to enhance operational efficiency, quality, and safety. The engineer will develop and modify PLC, HMI, and embedded control applications, while also troubleshooting and improving control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement automation systems for manufacturing or related processes using control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
Develop new and modify existing PLC, HMI, and embedded control applications and interfaces to meet operational requirements.
Support the setup and commissioning of new facilities and upgrades to existing control systems.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve control system malfunctions. Provide recommendations for system improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and quality.
Create and maintain detailed specifications, system configurations, and operational procedures. Ensure accurate and thorough completion of all documentation.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure the effective deployment and operation of control systems.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills/Competencies
Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
Strong understanding of control systems, PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.), HMI development, and embedded systems.
Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions.
Solid math and analytical abilities for problem-solving and system optimization.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in both technical work and documentation.
Qualifications (Required)
Education: Bachelor's
Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience in control systems engineering, PLC programming, HMI development, and automation.
